Spicing Up Natural Morning Sickness Cures

Sugar, spice, and everything nice. Supposedly, these are what little girls are made of. No wonder grown women still see these three as sources of comfort. The first and third, of course, are givens, but one can't help but ask:  when exactly are women soothed by spices? Answer: when they're pregnant, and are desperate to try a couple of natural morning sickness cures to relieve their morning sickness symptoms.

One spice in particular has a reputation for doing just that. Ginger has long been considered an effective natural remedy that keeps morning sickness symptoms at bay. Because more and more nauseous women began to use it for relief, necessary steps were taken in order to discredit or validate that theory. And the countless studies that have been done on ginger's effect on women suffering from morning sickness have time and again yielded the same result: the spice works.

Yes, ginger does soothe pregnant women; for them, the spice can be as much a source of comfort as sugar and everything nice. How so? It alleviates nausea and significantly reduces the frequency and severity of vomiting, two of the most common morning sickness symptoms which most – if not all – women associate the condition with. As such, it comes highly recommended by morning sickness experts and sufferers alike.

Luckily for all mothers-to-be, ginger isn't hard to come by. As a common spice, there's a good chance it's available at the local grocery store. Even better, ginger comes in all shapes and sizes, giving expecting mothers a variety of natural morning sickness cures to choose from.

Ginger tea, ginger ale, crystallized ginger, powdered ginger, and ginger snaps are all good options. The effects of the spice varies from person to person, so some women may get better results from the tea than the snaps, or vice versa, as the concentration of ginger differs with each form it comes in.

Be that as it may, all forms of ginger can be considered legitimate natural morning sickness cures. Expecting women just have to determine which one works best for them, and in what dosage.

These women should, however, be wary of the risks involved. Because it's so easy to add a dash of ginger in their lives, mothers-to-be may end up using more than what they actually need...and more than what is regarded to be safe.

Until today, there is no evidence that proves ginger is 100% safe for use in pregnancy, which could be part of the reason why the recommended dosage remains so conservative, and why natural sources of ginger are generally believed to be safer alternatives to ginger pills (highly concentrated sources of the spice). But despite the lack of absolute proof, ginger is widely considered to be much safer than prescription or over the counter drugs meant to remedy morning sickness.

So while there's little doubt that the spice deserves to be recognized as one of the most effective natural morning sickness cures out there, suffering mothers-to-be ought to make use of it gingerly.
